Fort Erie International Academy

Fort Erie International Academy

Our “East Meets West” philosophy translates into our students gaining an enhanced understanding of the interconnectedness of the world which will prepare them to be participants and leaders with an international perspective. Our crest logo incorporates four symbols: Fort, Dove, Tiger, and Pinecone, with each symbol related to an element of the school.

  • The Fort takes inspiration from Fort Erie, a symbol of strength and integrity.
  • The Dove is a symbol of peace, is derived from the Peace Bridge connecting the United States and Canada.
  • The Tiger is the school mascot and a symbol of leadership and power.
  • The Pinecone is in honour of our co-founder, 271 Education Group, symbolizing wisdom and knowledge.

Each symbol is incorporated into a shield, representing unity and strength. Red is an academic colour that conveys leadership and excellence.

EAST MEETS WEST

Our students come from all over the world bringing with them traditions and culture that inform their experience and help educate other students on all that the world has to offer.

At the Fort Erie International Academy, we provide an outstanding educational experience that encourages our students to truly engage with the material, embrace technology, work independently as well as collaboratively, and make inferences about the world as a whole.

LEADERSHIP TEAM AND VISION

Our School Leaders hail from the 2nd largest school board in Canada; the highly renowned Peel District School Board, a public board serving 153,000 students. With more than 95 years of educational experience, our Leaders are seasoned educators, grounded in practical experience as School and System Leaders over proven and successful careers.

The FEIA Leadership team are the founders of our East Meets West educational philosophy. They are committed to providing high quality, stimulating and enriching educational experience for our students.

Along with a world-renowned curriculum, FEIA class sizes are limited to a maximum of 15 students per teacher to allow them to get to know students as individuals. This also empowers them to flag any concerns early in the learning process and to meet the evolving needs of their students.

SUPERIOR TEACHING TEAM

Our teaching staff are trained in Ontario teaching methods and understand and implement the methodologies and pedagogy that reflect best practices in education circles today. We provide specific professional development courses to help our teachers support the learning of a unique blend of Chinese, local and international students.

ONTARIO

Ontario is Canada’s second-largest province. Its economy thrives through its unique combination of resources, manufacturing expertise, exports and a drive for innovation. It is a hub for careers in fields like technology and finance.

Here they are able to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a small town to focus on their studies while still being surrounded by history and culture and only a short drive to major amenities and some of the country’s top universities.

Language
At FEIA, our language development programming prepares all students for international educational and professional opportunities. To support our international students in their English language mastery, all Mandarin-speaking students receive intense ESL (English as a Second language) support on a daily basis Our English speaking students receive Mandarin lessons on a daily basis Each International student who wishes to attend university here in Canada will be required to pass the IELTS exam. IELTS is a test developed by the world's leading experts in language assessment on four key English language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. These language skills are paramount for any individual who wishes to successfully achieve a University degree. We offer our International student's additional ESL support in preparing for an IELTS exam within our afterschool programming.
Unique Learning Opportunities
Our students learn by doing and enthusiastically participate in hands-on-learning, project-based learning, and educational excursions to complement the curriculum. Our Grade 7/8 students learn in a classroom with two teachers and the class consists of 50% Chinese and 50% local students. Every student participates in a mentoring program with a Canadian teacher and Chinese leader with a ratio of 4:1. Well-being is essential as part of the support we provide to ensure success. Secondary School students learn about university entrance requirements and the admission process beginning in grade nine. Consultations are held regularly with students to ensure they are on the right pathway to achieve their goals.
International Business Focus
Many FEIA students have ambitions for an international business career. With that in mind, we intend to establish an International Business Specialist program for our grade 11 and 12 students. We are cultivating relationships with top universities in our inaugural year that we hope will foster opportunities for next year's graduating class and beyond.
