YMCA International Language School
The YMCA International Language School, located in Montreal, is a place of learning that offers, through its quality of teaching, an environment that contributes to individual and community growth while encouraging cultural exchange.
OUR SCHOOL
- The YMCA International Language School, located at the heart of Downtown Montreal, was established in 1965 and is part of the international YMCA movement found in 120 countries.
- The Language School has 27 well-lit classrooms, 4 cubicules for private lessons, 2 computer-based language learning labs, a student lounge, and free wi-fi access.
- The minimum age requirement is 18, but the average age of our students is between 25-29 years old.
- We are members of the following associations: ALTO (Association of Travel Organization), WYSE (World Youth Student and Educational Travel Confederation), Imagine Education au/in Canada and Languages Canada.
- Our Language School is conveniently located in the same building as the YMCA Sports Centre, which offers technologically up-to-date equipment, and fitness programs.
ABOUT MONTREAL
Montreal, known for being multicultural and bilingual, is a safe, dynamic and very vibrant city. Here you can watch TV and movies, get the news (newspapers/radio), and attend events in both English and French. Montreal’s multicultural scene is alive in the arts, architecture, languages, the food, the festivals, the parks, and the numerous other events and activities particular to this city.
OUR FITNESS CENTRE
All students registered in our language programs of 15 or more hours per week have free access to our fitness centre which includes:
- A large selection of group fitness classes: aerobics, toning, step, aquafit, yoga, various dances, cardio cycle and much more!
- An exercise room with cardiovascular equipment, weight training circuit, and free weights
- A 25-metre lap pool
- A 125-metre indoor jogging track
- A gymnasium for team sports
- A hot tub
- Sauna
- Locker rooms

- This class covers all 4 skills and allows to complete 1 level in 4 weeks.
- Students may choose 1 elective class per 4-week session.
- Elective includes for both languages: Conversation, Reading & Writing and Test Preparation classes.
- Located in downtown Montreal.
- Choice of English or French Language day camps.
- Possibility of adding sport and recreational activities (swimming, basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, mini putting, bowling, indoor ice skating, group projects, sightseeing to some of Montreal’s greatest attractions) along with the language course.
- Groups of 6 to 15 students.
- Two sessions of three weeks each – offered from the end of June to the beginning of August.
- Accommodation in a Homestay with full board available for teens of 14 years old or more.
- Combine the language summer camp with a language program for adults and create your own family package!
