ACCOMMODATION
Staying with a local family is both exciting and rewarding. Host families provide the best information about how Canadian families live their everyday lives. This interaction with a family will help you communicate better, faster and pick up words and nuances used in everyday situations.
There is no typical homestay in Toronto. Toronto is a multicultural city and many people actually come from different countries. Living in a family home will allow you to see all the different cultures and ethnicities Toronto has to offer.
You can choose between a single or a twin room. Each room has a bed, desk and wardrobe. It is important to keep the rooms and living areas neat and tidy. You can also use the shared bathroom. Private bathrooms are also an option, subject to availability. Bed linen and towels are provided by the host family. The host family will be happy to wash linens and towels once a week. It is your responsibility to make your own personal laundry. It is very common for families to have a set laundry day; Internet access is available on request and telephone access is restricted depending on the host family.
Breakfast and dinner are provided daily, with homestay service who will be happy to prepare both meals. Lunch is not included in the adult homestay program.
Host families strive to adjust the type of food available to students’ tastes and take religious beliefs into account when preparing meals.
Breakfast varies from family to family. It is typical for Canadians to have a quick, on-the-go breakfast such as toast and coffee. Students help set the table by eating family food or clean up after dinner. You are also encouraged to participate in family activities or outings.
ACCOMMODATION WITH FAMILY
Staying with a Canadian family gives you the chance to practice your English with a real local family and experience the culture. Many students prefer homestay accommodation because they enjoy the atmosphere and support that a family gives.
Homestay reflects Canada’s multicultural diversity as long as English is the language of the home. We examine all homes and educate our home families. The Accommodation Coordinator tracks each homestay experience and can be used full time at the school if you need assistance.
Twin rooms must be booked by two students travelling together.
