New York Language Center

The Intensive Language Program comprises eight levels of ESL and Post-Advanced classes. Post-Advanced classes include academic level Listening/Speaking as well as Reading/Writing courses, TOEFL prep and Business English. All courses offer integrated skills as well as a Friday workshop which offers enhanced practice with authentic materials such as newspaper articles, podcasts and online videos. Students interact with real English to improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students on an F-1 visa must choose this program.

A schedule based on your needs! Private lessons can be arranged upon request to accommodate individuals with limited schedules or specific needs. Instructors are able to customize lessons and schedules based on the students’ needs. Please contact an NYLC Representative for more information and availability!

The Semi Intensive Language Program comprises eight levels of ESL and Post-Advanced classes. It is perfect for tourists who would like an English language learning experience and still have free time to explore the city. Post- Advanced classes include academic level Listening/Speaking as well as Reading/Writing courses, TOEFL prep and Business English. All courses offer integrated skills. Students interact with real English to improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.  Students do not attend on Fridays.

Weekend English

The Weekend English Program allows students to improve their English skills in a supportive and friendly setting. The program is designed for working adults and is taught in five levels of integrated skills and courses of fluency development.

Everyday English Program

The Everyday English program is specifically designed for students who live and work in New York. It is taught in five-levels of integrated skills and courses of fluency development. The program concentrates on teaching and building basic English skills in order to gain confidence at work, at home, and in the community. Students practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing in all courses.

Esl Part-time Program

Our integrated skills program is designed to provide quality instruction and practice to improve your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills at every level. You will learn how and when to use the vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar that you need to become a fluent speaker of English. Fun and creative learning activities will prepare you to use English in real-life situations such as work, socializing, academic studies and everyday interactions.

Business English

The Business English courses at New York Language Center teach the skills necessary to do well in the workplace.  Students engage in telephone conversations, meetings, and negotiations.  They practice the vocabulary and expressions used in these business situations.  They also learn how to interact with colleagues and clients through dialogues and role plays that focus on English, the target language.  The class includes group work involving case studies where students discuss company issues and brainstorm for solutions.  The course is structured to help learners put English to use in the workplace.

TOEFL Preparation & Pre-TOEFL Preparation

Students who are planning to attend college in the United States or need a TOEFL test score as a job requirement are encouraged to take our TOEFL Preparation Program.  Depending upon your level of English and prior preparation our program can help you achieve a good score on your TOEFL iBT test. New York Language Center students have in the past been accepted to NY University, Columbia University, Juilliard School of Music, Fashion Institute of Technology, School of Visual Arts, New School, and the campuses of City University New York.  Individual results depend on you! Students must be at the Upper Intermediate level to enter Pre-TOEFL and a Post Advanced level of English to begin the program.  An entrance test will be given to students joining the school for the first time. The program begins with a developmental skills class and serves as a comprehensive and stimulating review class.  While focusing on grammar, it promotes the improvement of all language skills.

Private Instruction

Private, one-on-one ESL lessons can be arranged for individuals or mini-groups that have specific schedules or needs. These customized lessons are perfect for the student with limited time, who want more individualized attention, or who want to focus on a specific topic. Lessons can be arranged in a location and at a time that is convenient for the student.
